Philip Roth quanto hai ragione

Women Today I looked through last week, and I found an interview with one of my favorite writers, Philip Roth, one of greatest living novelists, as also stated in the article.

The article quoted a passage from American Pastoral, which my friend Gip I cut out nine years ago, and I still hung in front of my table in the room, so it's always an eye. It 's a bomb

"Lots against your superficiality, your carelessness, to try to approach the genre expectations without illusions, without an excessive burden of prejudice, hope or arrogance, in the least similar to a tank, without guns, machine guns and armor d '15 cm thick steel, offer people the most good-natured your face, walking on tiptoe, instead of overturning the soil, with the tracks, with breadth of vision el'affronti, as equals, man to man, as once said, and yet not fail to understand evil. You might as well have the brain of a tank. The first di'incontrarla understand evil, while anticipating the time when the encounter, while the evil you know you're with her, and then go home, talk to someone else of the encounter, and discover once again that he misrepresented. Because the same thing happens, in general, including your contacts, the whole thing is really a colossal illusion without foundation, an amazing comedy of errors. Yet, as we order our lives with this story, this story is so important, the history of others, which is devoid of meaning that we believe should have and instead assume significance grotesque, so we are ill equipped to discern the inner workings and purposes invisible to others? (...)
The fact remains that in any way, understand people not living. Living is capirla male, capirla male e male e poi male e, dopo un attento riesame, ancora male. Ecco come sappiamo di essere vivi: sbagliando. Forse la cosa migliore sarebbe dimenticare di avere ragione o torto sulla gente e godersi semplicemente la gita. Ma se ci riuscita…Beh, siete fortunati".
